    • Gladys E. Crone, 90, formerly of Gettysburg, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Ecumenical Community in Harrisburg.
      Born May 27, 1920 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lucy (Neff) Harner. She was the wife of the late Richard R. Crone, who died in 1982.
      Mrs. Crone was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. She was the former owner of the Needle Nook on the Biglerville Road in Gettysburg. She also worked at Grant's Department Store and volunteered at the hospital. She loved playing cards and was a member of the bridge card club.
      Gladys is survived by her daughter, Jane Crone-Shockney of Prineville, Ore.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was one of eight children in her family that included Seymour Harner, Glenn Harner, Lester Harner, Grace Harner, Betty Harner, June Saylor, and Trevie Miller. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Crone-Chronister, who died Dec. 2, 2006.
      Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 15, with her pastor, the Rev. Michael E. Allwein officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
      The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3293, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3535, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
